Capturing Life – the photo studio

‘I’m gonna swing from the “Chandelier” (Sia 2014), I’m gonna live like tomorrow doesn’t exist’: an antique chandelier (10kg, wrought-iron, 100x98x98cm), with six finely-worked s on the bottom and twice six on its hexagonal sides, was photographed over a common Maltese floor (franka) of old stone slabs (ċangatura) (unlike →7). This image is a homage from-our-time to before-gone ironsmiths and artisans in general. Even though they may be anonymous now, their past skills and craft continue to be respected and appreciated well into the 21st century, signalled by six -shaped candles, lit in their honour.
